Transformer noise is caused by a phenomenon which causes a piece of magnetic sheet steel to extend itself when magnetized. Keeping this in view, why is my phone charger making a buzzing noise? Mostly it is because of electricity running through it and it's wire coils in it's step down transformers and rectifiers. Similarly in charger buzzing noise is produced as it is very small and also high frequency making the sound more shrill.

You can hear humming noise in roadside transformers.
